Enabled Abroad Scholarship

The Enabled Abroad Scholarship aims to encourage University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign undergraduates with physical or sensory disabilities to study abroad.

While study abroad can be challenging, the experience can help you learn more about yourself and your capabilities. Gain a strong sense of accomplishment, gain confidence and independence, and open yourself up to a new culture, all while taking courses for university credit.

Eligibility

To be eligible for an Enabled Abroad Scholarship, you must be an undergraduate at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a physical or sensory disability registered with Disability Resources and Educational Services (DRES). This scholarship is for pre-approved study abroad programs.

What expenses does the Enabled Abroad Scholarship cover?

The Enabled Abroad Scholarship may be used towards expenses related to your disability incurred from your study abroad experience. This may include expenses related to in-class and/or exams accommodations, auxiliary aides, and other expenses related to your disability that increase costs for activities required by your study abroad program.

When is the application due?

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. You should apply for the Enabled Abroad Scholarship once you choose your study abroad program.
