New International Student Experience
New International Student Experience is a series of orientations, social events, and informational opportunities organized by Illinois International in collaboration with several campus partners to support new international students as they transition to life at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
New International Student Orientation
We offer specific orientations for new international undergraduate and graduate students. From our Pre-Arrival Orientation program designed specifically to highlight pre-travel information to our on-campus orientations before the semester begins, there are opportunities for all new members of the Illinois family.
International Student Check-in
All new international students are required to complete their federally mandated check-in with International Student and Scholar Services after arriving in the United States.
ISSS Shuttle Service (Fall Only)
International Student and Scholar Services offers a chartered shuttle service for new international students and their families, including exchange and first-time transfer students, traveling from the Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) to the Urbana-Champaign campus. The shuttle runs in August, prior to the start of the academic year.
New International Student Meet-up
Each semester, Illinois International hosts a new international student meet-up event during the week before classes. Stop by and join an informal networking activity (with prizes!) and enjoy snacks in a relaxed, welcoming environment. Event details, along with other social events, are posted to the Illinois International events calendar.
